Digital Technologies

Games and Animation

Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies (Games and Animation). The award comes from Pearson in the UK, not from TIIB.

Two years in a studio routine, designing, modelling, animating and building in Unity and Unreal. You leave with a portfolio rather than a transcript, because that is what a studio asks to see. Year two goes into 3D, VFX and AR/VR work.

How you are assessed

Portfolio-based, because that is how the industry hires.

  • Designing and building games, animations and interactive media.
  • A professional portfolio developed across the programme.
  • Storyboards and concept art.
  • Pitching game and animation concepts to a panel.
  • Group projects that mirror a studio pipeline.
  • A final major project taken from concept to finished piece.
  • An internship with a studio or creative agency.

Where it leads

Where graduates go:

  • Game designer, building and shipping playable work.
  • Animator, 2D or 3D.
  • 3D modeller.
  • Character designer.
  • Level designer.
  • VFX artist.
  • UI and UX designer for games.
  • Freelance game developer or animator.

The internship is guaranteed, and it starts four months in

Not at the end, and not something you have to go and find. It pays up to AED 1,000 a month, based on performance, and hours are capped at 20 a week, which is what a student visa allows.

How the internship programme works

What it costs

Examination fees are included.

Standard fee. Instalment plans are agreed with your offer. Registration is a one-off AED 1,000, and the application fee is AED 100, which admissions invoices after you apply. Visa costs are separate and are set out on the student visa page.

Every fee in one place

A Level 5 HND is 240 credits

Direct entry into the final year of a UK bachelor's degree in game development, animation or digital media.

Those credits are the first two years of a UK bachelor's degree, which is why the last year is one year and not three.

How the final degree year works

Why here

  • An approved Pearson centre

The centre is approved to deliver and assess the award in Dubai Knowledge Park, and Pearson audits that.

  • 35+ founders teach here

People who run companies now, in the room, not teachers who ran one years ago.

  • 22+ companies take our students

That is what makes an internship a promise rather than a hope.

Who runs TIIB

Also in Digital Technologies

  • Artificial Intelligence Solutions and Applications

Applied AI rather than AI theory, so you build the models instead of deriving them.

  • Web and Content Management

Half of it is building the site, half is running what gets published on it.

That is normal, and it is a ten-minute conversation rather than a research project. Admissions replies within one working day.
