Cyber Security

Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies (Cyber Security). The award comes from Pearson in the UK, not from TIIB.

Two years learning to defend systems and to test them. Year one is the groundwork: networks, programming, how computers actually talk. Year two is the specialism: ethical hacking, incident response, forensics, audit and compliance. You finish with a live case study done during your internship.

How you are assessed

Theory is assessed in writing. Everything else is assessed by whether it works.

  • Written reports and research on threats and protocols.
  • Lab work with firewalls, encryption and penetration testing tools.
  • Case studies of real attacks and the defence against them.
  • Group projects designing a security plan for an organisation.
  • A capstone security strategy or ethical hacking simulation.
  • An internship with an IT or security team.

Where it leads

Where graduates go:

  • Cyber security analyst, monitoring and responding to threats.
  • Information security officer.
  • Penetration tester.
  • Network security engineer.
  • Security consultant.
  • Incident response specialist.
  • IT risk analyst.
  • Compliance and audit specialist.

The internship is guaranteed, and it starts four months in

Not at the end, and not something you have to go and find. It pays up to AED 1,000 a month, based on performance, and hours are capped at 20 a week, which is what a student visa allows.

How the internship programme works

What it costs

Examination fees are included.

Standard fee. Instalment plans are agreed with your offer. Registration is a one-off AED 1,000, and the application fee is AED 100, which admissions invoices after you apply. Visa costs are separate and are set out on the student visa page.

Every fee in one place

A Level 5 HND is 240 credits

Direct entry into the final year of a UK bachelor's degree in cyber security, information security or computer science.

Those credits are the first two years of a UK bachelor's degree, which is why the last year is one year and not three.

How the final degree year works

Why here

  • An approved Pearson centre

The centre is approved to deliver and assess the award in Dubai Knowledge Park, and Pearson audits that.

  • 35+ founders teach here

People who run companies now, in the room, not teachers who ran one years ago.

  • 22+ companies take our students

That is what makes an internship a promise rather than a hope.

Still deciding between two of these?

That is normal, and it is a ten-minute conversation rather than a research project. Admissions replies within one working day.
